Since the time
Apple has released the
Mac Pro I've been waiting for Apple desktop hardware using just TWO processor cores and using real desktop hardware under the hood. There are Apple computers internally using notebook hardware, i.e. the iMac and the Mac mini. These do not fit my needs because I don't want lame notebook hardware (memory, graphics, and hard disk) to slow down my work. The Mac Pro is far too oversized for my needs, i don't need
four Xeon processor cores, and I don't want to spend that much
money. The good thing about the Mac Pro is that I can enhance its functionality by adding
expansion cards whenever I like to. Same with repairs: I don't want to have the whole machine exchanged when it's just the graphics card that is broken. Apple: Why don't you release The Missing Link? I'd like an enhanceable hardware architecture with just TWO non-Xeon desktop processor cores using 'real' desktop hardware. An
Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2.4, 2.66 or 2.93 GHz would be enough. RSVP.
